Sub 1000 new gaming build (need advice)

December 27, 2009 6:45:18 PM

Hey everyone, I wanted some advice for my new build.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Early to mid January BUDGET RANGE: under 1000

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming, gaming, and some cad work

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, monitor, mouse, OS, power supply (the one I am using is in the list), case isn't necessry

PARTS PREFERENCES: open to suggestions

OVERCLOCKING: Yes/Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes (not a first)

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024 (i think, on my laptop away from my pc right now)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: The linked parts are the amd build. I have been trolling the forums and alot of people have been recommending this, but then some other say build an i5 system instead. I am open to suggestions. Also, the ram I have listed some other have suggested the ripjaws instead of the eco series. Whats the main difference/ tradeoffs? The psu in the list is what I have so I am way under-budget, so I might buy a case on top of that.

Is it worth waiting for the new nvidia cards whenever they are supposed to come out?
