I5-3570k CPU fan?

Anyone have any suggestions? Hope fully not too expensive either. This will be going on an asrock extreme4 but in a haf 22, so height is no problem. One day I do want to try oc'ing, but as of now I still have no experience.

Guys, no killer price tags please. A 200$ cooler will be rejected immediately =p

  1. Also Noctua NH-D14.

  3. The community fall to cooler, cheap and inexpensive CM212 EVO.

  4. I use a CM212+ @ 4.6ghz on my 2500k with no issues. Yours should run a bit hotter than mine but there is little difference in the 212 or the NH-D14. The NH might get you 2-3c cooler.
  5. I checked the noctua out and it had pretty good stats. 19 dB, that's silent enough. The biggest drawback is that it's 90$ =/

The cm 212 price wise was much more appealing. It's 19.99$ with mail in rebate. Its drawback is that it's 20-32 dB, a bit loud.

Any that has the best of both worlds?
  6. A noctura fan on a CM212 is the best of both worlds. The 212 comes with mounts for 2 quiet fans.
  7. Its cheap enough and it keeps it cool and quiet.

    Another vote for a Corsair H60/H80?H100 !!

I just built my new rig in a CoolerMaster Storm Trooper case. An Asus P8Z77V mobo with an 3770K cpu cooled with A Corsiar H100 with the supplied fans in a push config at the top of my case. Psu sucks fresh air from bottom and blows out back, Hard drives suck left blow right, rear 140mm blows out back. Gpu (EVGA 670 FTW) blows out back. Not currently overclocked, all case fans on low speed , H100 set to medium all is QUIET, Room temp is 76 F. cpu and mobo temps 30/31 C at idle and @ 38 C after 3 hours of COD and L4D2 With all video options maxed out. Gpu barely breaks a sweat too.

Have built 8 other rigs for myself and others all with various high efficiency fan cooled heat piped finned dust clogging case hogging motherboard bending cpu crushing monster coolers. Am glad to be rid of em ! I can actually see my mobo and all its headers and slots and sockets. I can clean my guts easily and actually work on stuff with two hands in my case.

They all were good coolers that worked well but I will not miss them !

My H100 was @104.00 delivered to my door. You can buy one of those finned hogs for less than half that and some of them will equal or nearly equal the H100 with two fans on med with push only. My H100 install was my easiest cpu cooler install ever.
  9. No water coolers please. I'd prefer air because of space.
  10. Put radiator outside and u have more space than with air.
  11. BTW, space for what?
  12. Oh I just noticed you are using a Haf 922 case. : ) Built a rig for my nephew with that case, nice case. Just take the top fan out and mount it on the side door or stick it in your parts bin. The H100 rad and fans will pop right in the top o that case real nicely. The waterblock/pump is @ the size of a pack of cigs.
If your case looks to empty and makes echos like a canyon you can put a small cage with a canary in it where the fanned, finned, heat piped, monster would have been.
  13. Tbh I think I'm going with the cm 212. It's the cheapest but loudest, but when black friday comes around I might just pick up a quieter fan to replace it. But all in all, the cm 212 is still a great fan right?
  14. 212 is the best budget option out there : )
  15. Closed Loop, even though it's priced at $50 on sale, a cheaper $30 cooler outperforms it.

    I don't know about that.

  19. I installed few of those "EVO" and they work better than I would ever thought.

Agreed. It doesn't look like much (quite hideous, actually), but oh my, does it ever perform very well for its price. Somebody would have to pry mine from my cold, dead hands

Recommend the Evo next time [:lutfij:4]

    They're pretty nice HS/F, keeps my i5-2500K @4.5ghz 55C on load :)
  22. LOL,

I bought while ago Frio on sale ($45 at Frys), and if I would check this EVO too,

I would probably got it too.

    Well, I 'm happy for u :D
  24. Actually I do recommend it a lot in mobo section.
  25. Actually I'm unsure of my previous decision. I just remembered that I'm getting a haf 922. There's plenty of room in there, but idk if I could get a radiator to mount in there. Or I can get a cm 690 ii, which has a radiator mount inside, and multiple fans.

Personally, I like the haf look better.
  26. I like the CM 690 II advanced ;)
  27. What other specs do you have amuffin? Case, fans, and ambient? I've got the 212 plus, but my temps are crap.
  28. What temps do u have?

    OC'd?

    Thermal paste used? Name...
  29. i5-2500k @ 4ghz, in a rosewill blackhawk, using hyper 212+ (stock paste)

Idles about 40c and loads about 70c ambient is probably 24-25c

Was running about 10c cooler idle and load when I was using AS Ceramique, but when I cleaned the HSF I decided to try the stock paste. It hasn't been too big a problem and I'm waiting until I get my new desk to reseat and switch back pastes.

Also the stock fan on my hyper 212+ is so loud, and it vibrates a lot too.
  30. Mostly those OEM's that comes with it, are not as good as the specialized ones are.
  31. So how hard would it be to mount the radiator in the h60? Would I have to buy mounts or somthing?
  32. Best answer
Its easy. U will reuse the vent mounting holes in the back .

  33. Could have dual fans.

  34. Oh cool. And that was a picture of it mounted to a haf 922?
  35. I think it was Corsair case. But it fits just fine.
  36. This is CM with H60.

  38. Good luck!
  39. Nikorr thanks. Your really helping me out a lot in this build =)
  40. You're welcome, its evolving : )

So whats rest of the rig?
  41. Intel i5 3570k
    Radeon hd 7850 gpu
    Samsung 830 64gb ssd
    Wdc black 1 tb
    Corsair h60 cooler
    Haf 922
    Asrock extreme4
Mushkin redline ridgeback 8gb 1866 ram

I'll repost this again in the appropriate section bcuz I still have to get a psu.

Am I missing any important pieces/extra fans?
  42. No, with the water cooler, it will be even cooler inside.

It comes with bunch of fans already.

And your GPU is not going to get really hot.

I think its fine now. U can always add later.

Where do u live? If u have a hot room, it still should keep the temps juts fine.

It will be hotter inside, the tubes give off a lot of heat.

op most likely mounted the 212 wrong.

I was reading that its about 4-5C cooler.

But his case should not be bothered by that either way.
  45. I live in California. It gets hot in summer, but the place I put this at would probably get to 80 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temp max. (sorry I dont know conversion to Celsius)
  46. Don't know where you're living in CA, but it's not that hot (Bay Area)

Would you pay $20-30 for that difference?

    Waste of money.
  48. Its more quiet. And I would. $30 is nothing these days. Unless unemployed.

I wanna get the Cosmos and custom water cooling.

Thinking if I should wait for Haswell or get the 2011 and 6core.
