I just bought a AMD 965 125w black edition and installed on a new build and the fan is ridiculously loud? Anybody else have this problem?
Can anybody recommend quiet replacement fan?

I don't want to replace the cooler.

Thanks

best $15 I ever spent on a PC part

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N...

I have it on the lowest setting and runs silent, my CPU idles at 27c and never breaks 47c during gaming.

At medium settings its about as loud as a video card while gaming and at high its still not as loud as the AMD 125w heatsink & fan.

I know this is an old thread, but I just today upgraded my old AMD cpu (AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor) which ran close to slient, with an AMD phenomII 965 (black) (AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 125W Quad-Core Processor )

The heat sink that comes with it, is HUGE compared to the old one. However, the fan is very loud.
Temperatures while idle are: 42-44 degrees Celsius (with a fairly loud fan sound at about 5300 RPM)

I was hoping someone else has experience with this CPU and can tell me if it's "normal" or if I should look at replacing the heat sink or returning the CPU.
