Im currently stuck here. I'm not sure if I should get a 5850 or 5870.

I plan to get 1 card.

My motherboard doesn't support crossfire only sli.

I want this card to last me till the new amd CPU's come out the 8 or 12 core ones so 1-2 years.

I currently have a

e8400 3.0 ghz process (duo) overclock to 3.83 ghz

9800GTX+

8 gb of dd2 800 ram

If I upgrade to a 5870.. will it still be and powerful in 2 years? I could always get another one in 2 years to crossfire it?

What do you think..

is the 100 $ extra worth it? plus it has a double life time warranty on it

If you have the money, there is no question about 5870.
If you have a doubt, check out it's reviews.
It's totally awesome both in single and crossfire configuration.
My little brother has a radeon 4650. It is 2 or more years old but play every game to date.
Get 5870 if you have the money.
Best of Luck

Their drivers come from ATI like all others. In 2 years changes are that the HD5870 is going to be a upper mid range card like you GTX9800+ is now. Cant stop progress.
