First time building, 500-700$ budget

Hi,

I am currently trying to build my own pc during this Newegg boxing day sale and was wondering about some opinions on my choice of products.

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz

ASUS M4A77TD AM3 AMD

HIS H467QS1GH Radeon HD 4670
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produ [...] 6814161287

CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"

or if I should upgrade to a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz ----for 70 dollars.

or go with a combo like these:

Also, what are the MOBOs any of you would recommend for these two proccesors?

I'm trying to make this machine as inexpensive as possible also and also wanted to know if upgrading to quad would make that big of a different now and in the future.

I will most likely be overclocking the system, it doesn't have to necessary
SLI/Crossfire is doubtful but may eventually use it when upgrading later

I have no monitor at the moment but resolution would probably be 1024x768 or the next step up.

The system will also be running on Windows XP 32 Bit

Your help is much appreciated,

Thanks.

EDIT:

Oh and also this system would be used for gaming; Counter-Strike: Source, WoW, L4D2 and I would also like it to be capable of handling upcoming games such as Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Final Fantasy 14 and the new Half-Life Engine (eventually).

Parts not needed: OS, keyboard, mouse, monitor(unless it is cheap), speakers

Aprox. purchase date: This week

I also don't mind sacrificing some perks now for a lower price and upgrading things later, basically I want to get it as cheap as possible.

More about first time building budget
  1. definitely spend the extra cash to get the 955. you can cheap out on the mobo if you dont plan on getting crossfire in the future. heres one that would work for $65

Beg, borrow or steal money for the rest. $700 including a monitor for a gaming pc is stretching it. The upcoming games will be more quad-core & gpu intensive. The HD 4860 is not a bad card. I looked for a 500W PSU, but a quality one cost more than $50. Might as well get a good psu + a case for $100. This Antec case is quiet & decent. Better than anything under $50.

Oh, the reason for X3 is that the 4th core MAY be unlocked.
