I guess that all depends on what your needs are.
Let's say for example, you "need" to have a minimum frame rate of 30 fps in Crysis Warhead on your 30" monitor, then even the 5970 can't accomplish that ....can't do it @ 1920 x 1200 either (29 fps). Takes twin 5970's to get 35 fps in Warhead at 2560 x 1600.

Each individual must understand that your needs and what you are willing to give up in $$$ for them are a unique set of values. It's akin to saying that buying a $1,000 CPU is a "waste of money". If ya spent 3 hours hours tweaking the OC's on your box, consider that to a guy billing his clients at $275 an hour, that's the same time investment as buying a $1k CPU.
