After seeing the powers of the two cards: 5870 and 5970, Do you guys really think there is a need for the 5870x2 and 5970x2 (guessing from 3870x2 and 4870x2)

  1. 5870x2 is the 5970

    it goes 3870x2=4870
    4870x2=5870
    dunno what tthe 6 series will bring yet
  2. Yes there is a need for 5970X2 and 5870X2 but not for gaming purposes. It's for bragging rights to 3D benchmark scores, lol.
  3. Yeah like obsidian said the 5970 is the 5870 X2 ATI just decided to name it differently this time.

  6. yup lol
  7. Yes!!!!
    Solitare is a pretty demanding game.
  8. I guess that all depends on what your needs are.

    Let's say for example, you "need" to have a minimum frame rate of 30 fps in Crysis Warhead on your 30" monitor, then even the 5970 can't accomplish that ....can't do it @ 1920 x 1200 either (29 fps). Takes twin 5970's to get 35 fps in Warhead at 2560 x 1600.

    Each individual must understand that your needs and what you are willing to give up in $$$ for them are a unique set of values. It's akin to saying that buying a $1,000 CPU is a "waste of money". If ya spent 3 hours hours tweaking the OC's on your box, consider that to a guy billing his clients at $275 an hour, that's the same time investment as buying a $1k CPU.
