Question about upgrading CPU

I currently am running a ASUS P5LD2 (LGA775), E6400 @ 2.9GHZ, and 512MB 8800GT.


Am having nearly unplayable experiences with Black Ops and BC2, and am wondering if I can simply pop any LGA775 Quad core in it to upgrade the CPU without replaceng the motherboard and RAM?

Keep your CPU, and upgrade your ram to 4 gb and upgrage your gpu to a gtx460.

But I was told that Black Ops and BC2 were very CPU intensive...so I'm worried that I woulden't see a performance boost.

Please upgrade the gpu.If you are planning to buy a new rig you would could definitely bring that gpu to your new rig and also it is the fastest way to increase framerates in all games!

is a benchmark for the bc2 games for the different types of cpu.
However since your pc parts are all outdated i think you just should buy an entirely new rig.You use a ddr2 ram on a 1155 mobo that supports i5 2500k its not possible.SO the best way to increase FPS is to buy new gpu.

I'll probably just wait till BF3's released then. Don't really want to splurge on a $1000ish new PC just for it not to work at highest on BF3.
