I'm a servicemember (Navy) and part-time student... recently my laptop that I've been using has been dying. I'm looking to build my own computer but I don't have the most time.

I saw this recommended build for $500:

# CPU: Intel Pentium E5300 2.6GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80571E5300 - Retail
# MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
# RAM: CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-6400C5 - Retail
# HSF: Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler W/TX-2 - Retail
# HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM
# PSU: Antec earthwatts EA430 430W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.0 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail
# GPU: XFX HD-465X-YAF2 Radeon HD 4650 512MB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail
# DVD: Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Black SATA Model AD-7240S-0B - OEM
# Case: COOLER MASTER Elite 330 RC-330-KKN1-GP Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

I'd like to go cheaper as I won't be gaming (so I imagine the video card can go) but I still want to get something that will last for a while and not worry about bad quality parts breaking and what not.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Few days. BUDGET RANGE: 400

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Watching movies, web usage, flashcard programs, etc..

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Mouse / speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Cheapest COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA (California)

PARTS PREFERENCES: No preference

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1280x1024, 1440x900, I'd also like to go with two monitors if possible.

Thanks!

I recommend against the $500 build cuz it uses dead memory - DDR2. Can't be reused in a future upgrade. If you're building a new pc, get DDR3.

All that's missing is an ATX case. Pick one out from:

The MSI mobo can output to 3 monitors at the same time. The IGP (onboard video) isn't for gaming, but there's a PCI-E slot so upgrading to a gaming card is as easy as drop-it-in.
