It's a 775 socket motherboard

Well this question is very vague. But since this is a pentium dual core...there is no sense in getting something expensive...nothing over 100 dollars....I mean you could, but the cpu would cap the gpu's performance...
Depending on his needs he can go with a few different cards...

you could also go a bit cheaper if he doesn't plan on playing games...
