If you are set on a socket 775, just pick up a e5200 instead and overclock it. It really doesn't get any easier than overclocking those things.

I am open to amd, my dad has a old compaq he took from his job which is horrible. He just wants something fast.

will using the onboard vid card make him think his comp is slow? Don't want to build it and him be like this isnt any faster than my old one. Also seems like an intel cpu will be cheaper.

Very nice! The gpu won't necessarily make it slow, I like overkill though. I built a similar build for my stepdad and threw a Radeon 4670 in it.
