PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: None
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Australia
PARTS PREFERENCES: i7
OVERCLOCKING: Maybe
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Looking to build a pc with the following things in mind.
1)Want it to be able to play the games listed on full resolution, not just now but into the future.
2)Must be able to play the Old Republic on full specs when released
3)Want the PC to be futureproof somewhat for the future.
4)Want a really good mobo that will be capable of running i9’s in the future.
5)Want it to be upgradable in the future.
Here’s what I am thinking:
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard – Retail - $350

Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor – Retail - $290
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202&cm_re=i7_920-_-19-115-202-_-Product
CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model CMG6GX3M3A2000C8 – Retail - $393

*Please note – I am not sure if I should make it 6gb or 12gb straight away. Would 6gb run everything perfectly or would it be a bottleneck? I could add the other 6gb later when upgrading it down the track.
Video – XFX HD5970 Black Edition – Approx $670
HDD – 1 x SSD Approx 150gb, open to suggestions & 1 x WD Caviar Black 1tb
Case - Thermaltake V9 Black Edition ATX Computer Gaming Chassis with Dual Oversized 230mm Ultra-Silent Cooling Fans VJ400G1N2Z Mid Tower – Retail

Power Supply – Open to suggestions, was thinking 1000w +
CPU Fan – Open to suggestions, but want it to be capable of cooling an Overclocked 920.
My thinking for the above was:
1)The mobo could handle future upgrades to i9 and has new features like usb 3 etc.
2)The CPU would be overclocked and then upgraded in the future
3)The ram, not sure on 6gb or 12gb, but another 6gb could be added later
4)By getting a single HD5970 video card, I could upgrade the graphics later by buying a second HD5970 or a new card. Hopefully it would also be able to run the res of a 30’ monitor should they become the norm in a few years.
5)Wanted a SSD for the speed, but would only have Maybe 4-5 games on it and OS. Although as TOR will be online, not sure how much room it will take.
6)The case, well I am after something that will stay cool should I O/C the cpu.
Thanks in advance for your help guys.
