My secondary hard drive has vanished. Everything had been working fine then it vanished yesterday. It came back for a bit then poof it vanished again. I can only see the drive in the Bios. I tried Spinrite but it did not see the drive. I know this could not be a good sign if the drive could not be seen at this low level. I thought if the Bios read it Spinrite would be able to. Is it totally shot or can it be recovered even if its temporary so I get get the data off it. Can anyone recommend any suggestions? TIA

Is drive visible in Disk Management (Right Click on Computer >> Manage >> Disk Management). If yes, assign a letter to drive (if not already assigned) and it should be visible.

No the drive is not visible in Disk Management. I can only see it thru the Bios. I'm thinking I'm gonna be SOL.

Try connecting this HDD to some other PC and see if it is visible there.
