Moving files on (same) disk corrupts them

I have an NDAS network drive. When I sort my photos I tend to move them by selecting them and then dragging them to another directory on the same drive or use move.

Almost every time I do this the jpg files are then corrupted. I get 'file cannot be read' and worse, I cannot then erase the corrupted file.

If I remember in time, I copy the files, paste them to the new destination and then erase the ones in the old folder. In this case, there is no problem.

What am I doing wrong?
