C++ Error

Running XP SP3

I randomly get an error box appear from explorer.exe (NOTE not IE). I get a box saying:

Runtime Error! Program: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe abnormal program termination (OK).

If I click the OK on the Error window the dialogue box disappears the system seems to reset the Taskbar, all the Icons on my desktop disappear for about 15 seconds and then reappear as if nothing is wrong and then everything goes back to normal (ish) until the next error.

I have scanned with Sophos, scanned my OS files with SFC and windows system scan and find no errors.

The error logs don’t show anything significant!!

I have reinstalled XP SP3 but the error keep coming..

Can anyone help with this problem?? AHLA!!!

BTW: I have scanned with AD-aware and it happens in SAFE mode too...

It may sound strange, but a file or folder that contains improper characters can crash explorer.exe.

I don't even have to open Explorer - it the OS that is using explorer when it puts up the error. It does't happen in safe mode without the network so I'm now looking at the network drivers but again any help would be much appreciated. Bob...
