I clicked solved on my previous topic too soon.

I was advised that my offer on my preveious dell system wasn't ideal for gaming

" $1,281.07

Studio XPS 9000,
Intel Core i7-920 processor (8MB L3 Cache 2.66GHz)
12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 1.8 Gigs
16X DVD+/-RW Drive
1TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM "

That the GTX 260 is an deadend card. Dell offered an upgrade to
an ATI 5870 for an extra $93, so $1,388.15.

Is that a better rig?

A 5870 normally costs almost $200 more than a 260 so that is a good deal. 5870 is the best single core GPU available today, you will be very happy with its performance.
