Task-bar Button very large

I have a problem.
when i open any program then the task-bar button going to be very large and reserve whole task-bar space from start button to clock. and when i open two program then tha task-bar whole space divide into 2 parts. what should i do and how to control & get normal task-bar button size of open programs?

Hover your cursor over the top of the task bar. When you see the split arrow (cursor), click and drag to resize the taskbar.

I clicked the split arrow but nothing has happened.

Right-click on the taskbar and make sure "lock the taskbar" isn't checked before you try to resize it.
