Well, I recently dug out my old 760ED, bought a new battery, and it was running
well (was using it with my GPS). Then, one day, it died...wouldn't power on at
all. I disassembled it, ran tests, all to no avail. Thinking that it was the
motherboard, I picked up another one on ebay, and now it gets power, but
exhibits a very strange behaviour. The Status LCD comes on (showing all of the
icons, like usual), then settles down showing me a 98% battery, neither charging
or discharging (as it's on AC power), and the speaker icon is flashing.
Unplugging the AC shows the battery draining, and plugging it back in shows the
AC charging again. But the laptop just sits there and don't say nuthin', just
like the Tar Baby in the Brer Rabbit story.

Any thoughts?
