i have a mobo asus p5vd2-mx and it says that...Supported RAM speeds 533 MHz • 400 MHz

can i install 1g ddr2 800 ram or not? please you guys .... help... thanks in advance

Solution
Faster ram will normally run at the slower speed. Can't tell if yours will work. You don't even list the brand. You'll just have to try it. I would also check craigslist for pc5300; you can sometimes get it for $10-15 per gb.

yes you can install an ddr2 800mhz ram in your system.... the system itself will set the ram according to your systems specification and also there is also option in bios where you can manually reduce the frequency of the ram. I my self has used a ddr2 667mhz ram on an 533mhz motherboard so no problem my friend go for it
