You need to recover files from flash drive for free at first if your files are important. If your files are not vitial, you may try the following directly 1, use Windows disk management to format the flash drive directly 2, if not, try format tool like http://download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html Users reported that the HP usb disk format does not work on SanDisk.
