Thank you for your reply; and have Happy Holidays!

The DELL oem hard drive is a Seagate 160GB, SATA interface; and I plan to replace it with a Seagate 320 or 500GB SATA drive.

The oem CD-ROM drive is a Lite-on ATAPI/IDE (mdl# LTN-489S05VYC), READ ONLY (supports cd-rom, cd-r, cd-rw, cd-da). The CD drive is a has a broken belt; and I plan to replace it with a Lite-on mdl# iHAP322, PATA/IDE, superallwrite DVD burner. Is this a proper interface and replacement? I think it should be; and it will give me more options for reading and burning many types of discs. What say you? I want to order correctly the first time, only once, with no returns nec.
