Best Memory for ASUS M489TD Pro?

I am going to be purchasing the ASUS M489TD Pro/USB3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131655) in a few weeks and would like to purchase some high quality memory to go with it. I am using it for 90% gaming, so i figure 4GB would be enough memory for now. Willing to pay around $200 for this memory. The board can run up to 2000mhz with OC'd ram. I figure either 1600 or 2000mhz, have heard of people not being able to get the advertised 2000mhz out of some ram. Not sure if they just weren't setting the timings correctly, or if it were a compatibility issue.

Thanks for any advise!

Now as you can see all but 1 model of ram only supports 4DIMM dual channel. Does this meen i need to buy 8GB OF RAM JUST TO GET DUAL-CHANNEL?

I cant find the G.SKILL F3-16000CL7Q-8GBFLS(XMP) anywhere :( so am i going to HAVE TO get 8GB for dual channel?

I hope this helps the OP too, i dont know what CPU your going to use but if its an X6 then your in the same boat.
  2. Yeah, looks like we'll be in the same boat. Would like some feedback as well, didn't even know about them all supporting only 4DIMM! Would be nice to hear if that's the case. Glad i'm doing a little research before buying anything. Thanks for the input.
  3. Well, that list is only the QVL (what ASUS as test and guarantee's will support) As i didnt see any Cosair, Crucial or OCZ i threw that list well n truly out of the window lol.

I went with my gut and i have got some ram which i will test when it arrives for you and let you know what happened. Its the new Crucial Ballistix 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 with Thermal Sensors.

    My help to you....

Go with the ram you like the look off mate, Crucial, OCZ, Cosair, G-SKILL, GEIL ect, if its DDR3 then go for it, The only thing i really looked for because i wasnt sure was the DUAL and TRIPLE ram. I figured (and i may be totaly wrong) But triple ram is for intel as they have 6DIMM slots (2X2X2=6GB Triple-channel) whereas with AMD its different 4DIMM slot (2X2GB=4GB Dual-channel)

Thats why when i saw ram for sale at 6GB (3 sticks i think its intel and wont run dual channel?) Again i may be wrong but thats what i though and on that basis i just went for 2x2GB=4GB DUAL channel DDR3 ram.

I hope it helps, like i said i should be getting this ram withing the day or too and will let you know :)
  4. Am selling my PC lol, so RAMS for sale! If interested i have a thread open at AVForums or drop me a PM. Looking for £80 delivered. The rams awesome btw!
