OK this all started over video games, I wanted to be able to run my games at a higher rate than I can now. So I go to upgrade my graphics card from a Geforce 8500 GT to a Radon 4850 HD. Looks good but wait now I need a new power supply well I go find a nice new one. Now we should be good. But wait the new GCU needs a PCIe 2.0 16 x slot and I only have a PCIe 1.0 16 x slot! That's half as fast. I did a little math and the card would be running at 57% capacity at full load. So I started looking into getting a new motherboard, one with a PCIe 2.0 16x slot at least (or an equivalent PCIe 1.0 32x slot). Running into lots of confusion I figured I had better ask a hardware guru. I would like to be able to use my Intel core 2 duo 2.66 Hz with the new board. If you can point me toward a board that would work for me that would be great.
