I'm wanting to create a partition out of free space on the C drive on my hard disk. Problem is, when I explore the C drive (using my partitioning software program), there is no actual "free space" shown although there is plenty of "unused space" within that drive. Separate from the C drive on the disk is some separate "unallocated" space; however, I would like to create an actual "free" space within the C drive. With my partitioning software I do have the ability to create a logical drive within the primary C drive. If I do that will that newly created drive space be considered or indicated as "free" space until I allocate it for something specific?

Solution
Windows 7 ?

If so Just open Disk management and have it do all the work. Im only familiar with the Old Partition Magic and Windows tools. I have Acronis on one of the boxes here but can't remember the interface
