After configuring RAID1 boot and launch slow

After Raid1 install start up is very slow. Over 90 seconds to boot and very slow to launch apps. Intel Mobo,Quad cpu and 2 Seagate 500 gig HD. Is this normal?

Was the system faster before you setup RAID1? What are the full system specs?

Yes much faster w/ single SATA hd and no raid.

How did you setup the RAID1? Via the ICH or software? If via the ICH, did you install the latest Intel Matrix RAID drivers?

There has to be something wrong with your setup. Are you sure one of the drives isn't defective? You could shutdown the system and pull out one drive to see if the speed is back to normal. If so, then try the other drive. If your RAID1 contains valuable data, then I strongly suggest that you back it up first.

Are you performing RAID1 on the system drive or on other drives?
Is this a 'software or hardware' RAID?
