Asus P8Z77-V Won't Overclock

I'm brand new to overclocking but I've read that I should just be able to bump up the core multiplier to get a higher clock (to a point). However whenever I try to put it above 3.4 (say 3.8) my processor stays around 3.4ghz (3.42 or 3.43).

It says the synchronized target speed is correct. But it just won't go...

Suggestions? Like I said I'm brand new to this whole thing...

It boots just fine too no matter what I do, the bios holds all my edits. It just doesn't seem to actually do anything.

Asus P8Z77-V LGA mobo
Intel i5-3750k chip

Yep, all the changes are saved. Just nothing drastic actually happens. I can change the clock on the ram just fine, but whenever I change the multiplier it goes up by bits.

I think I've found the issue. The bios says that the CPU ratio range is 16-34... Hence why it doesn't allow it to go above 3.4 ghz... Now i just need to figure out how to change that....

Ok, same problem, can't believe I just posted a new topic, but yes. Same mobo, same problem... WTH is the problem the mulitplier range does indeed say that, but WTH!

Yes there are, watched the entire newegg vid on extreme overclocking and even after my mobo overclocks and increases the clock to "4258mhz" which it says is a "20%" increase or whatever, monitoring shows it never reasching above the 34x multiplier...

I will admit, just after flashing my bios to the latest version I saw 36x for a little bit, when i went into bios to increase it, it returned to 34x after... >_<

Thought I might throw some pictures in..

Showing target overclock for both DRAM (which works) and CPU (which won't)

Multiplier is at 48 (very high but i was hoping for something drastic)

Picture showing actual OC (3.411 ish)

Rest of CPU settings beneath CPU turbo ratio...

How can I get my OC to actually go up beyond 3.411ish? I can use the bclk but that seems like it isn't a good idea..

Did you ever work out the problem with this? I am having the same problem as you have had, only with a 3770k.

I have flashed the bios twice using EZ Flash to the latest version, any changes to multiplier only affect the TARGET speed rather than the ACTUAL clock speed. Temps are very low @ 1.25v.
