I want to change my video card.Currently i have nVidia 7300GS which is a 64bit 256mb ddr2 pci-e 1.0 card (Info)
i want to replace it with Gigabyte R4670 1gb ddr3 128bit pci-e2.0 card (linky)

my question is will it work(i have a 400w power supply) or should i look for a pci-e1.0 card(if so can you please recommend one im interested in gaming)

should work just fine, pcie2 is compatible with previous versions and the 4670 uses so little power that the 400W should be enough even with 'weak' 12V rail

it obvious its will perform worse that if it was on a pci-e 2.0 but will it be as slow as my old 7300gs
is it gonna perform slightly better that the 7300gs or will it be a big boost

No it won't perform worse on a PCI-E 1.0 slot.

Few cards can saturate 16 lanes of PCI-E 1.0, and the 4670 is definitely not one of them, there's no difference.

The difference between the 7300GS & the 4670 is gigantic, upgrading from a 7300GT

7300GT/4670:

C&C3 at medium settings (25 FPS)/4670 on ultra high settings (25 FPS)
BF2 at low settings 800x600 (35 FPS)/4670 on high settings 1440x900 (60 FPS)
Crysis at low settings 800x600 (25 FPS)/4670 on medium 1440x900 (40 FPS)
