I have an ASUS P7P55D-E pro motherboard and two 4GB memory sticks on order and plan to run 64-bit Win7.
I may find that there are too many obstacles to running the 32-bit OS, such as lack of drivers for some of my expensive peripherals.
I know that if I install 32-bit Win7 it will only recognize 4GB and use about 3.5G of the installed 8GB.
Will 32-bit Win7 stay in dual-channel mode and maintain normal speed, or will it go into single-channel mode using only one memory stick?
If it goes into single-channel mode, then it will obviously run more slowly. Will replacing the 2x4GB sticks with 2x2GB sticks show the user an appreciable increase in speed?
Thanks for helping a newbie,
-Nick
