Hello, my old pc just went down and with all the parts broken too, so i'm making a new cheap pc.

I was wondering if a pc with Intel Quad Q9550 and a XFX HD 5770 would be able to run Bad Company 2 with decent fps? If so, how would the fps look?

Only 2 gigs of ram in the pc.

More about : bad company

Yeah BC2 will run no problem on that setup. It REALLY loves quad cores, you could probably get 40-60 avg fps on med-high with high resolution.

Well, I've been playing with an AMD Athlon X2 4800+ and a 4870, maxed out at 1280x1024. Your cpu is a lot better than mine so you should definitely be able to play, but the settings you'll be playing at I cannot say anything about because you havent specified a resolution :p

It'll run it very well. I'm playing at 1920x1080 everything max except shadows (medium) and AA (x1) plays well over 60fps average on q9300 and hd4850

Your cpu will not be the bottleneck, so you have to look at the gpu. Your gpu’s performance should fall in the middle of the hd 4870 and hd 4850, hence you should be fine.

should run fine i get 70+fps on med, 40+ on high

i have a 4870 (second coming soon) and a phenom II x4 810 @ 3.12GHz
the 4870 is about the same as the 5770 performance wise

EDIT: just got the second 4870, 60+ fps everything maxed (including AA and AF)

Dude if I were you, I'd get a Phenom with a 4870 and 4GB of ram because getting a x8xx is better than a x7xx in terms of gamming, if you're not getting a 5870 or a 5850 then save yourself some money and get a 48/49-70. The phenom is better than core2s because of L3 cache and it's way cheaper and its mutiplier is 19x instead of the 9x you get on core2's so you can fine tune a decent overclock and turn your antistropic filtering all the way up. You can run the game smooth with this config. This route saves you money and instead of getting 2Gb you can get 4Gb and invest in a DDR3 board instead of a DDR2.

I get 60 to 120 fps depending on the place/action (average is 80). 1920x1080 dx9 maxed. (I also currently have only 2GB of ram until I rma)

Gd I love this game. Most fun I've had since battlefield 2 first released. :)

That setup will do ya just fine.

@Dickcruz

Fyi phenom ii and c2q are even. Phenom ii is slightly faster at stock (if you don't include intel extremes) and c2q is slightly faster when overclocked.

Phenom ii however will be the better route if possible due to price and upgrade-ability/techs (if you go am3) but that isn't an option here it seems. :)
