I have a Sony PCG-FX103 laptop which has developed a strange keyboard
problem.
It is running Windows 2000 and nothing I've tried seems to help.
The keys seem to be mis-typing.
Instead of getting 1234567890-= I get 123456789/-=
Instead of getting qwertyuiop[] I get qwerty456*] (the [ button
actually seems to act like 'return' and starts a new line)
Instead of getting asdfghjkl;' I get asdfgh123-'#
Instead of getting zxcvbnm,./ I get zxcvbn0,.+

I have tried experimenting with the Fn button and it does seem to have
some effect, but some of the keys don't produce a character when I
type.

With the Fn button held down here's what I get:

Top row:
nothing comes up from 1 to 5, then I get: 67890-= (which are the right
characters.

Next row:
qwrtyuiop[] (I get all the right characters except e doesn't produce
anything)

Next Row:
aghjkl;'# (I don't get anything for the buttons s,d or f)

Bottom row:
This row seems to work OK with the Fn button pressed.

Please can anybody help?

Thanks
Steven

The number lock is turned on. Look for NumLk on the top row, right hand
side. Press it once to turn it off. There might also be an LED next to
the CapsLock LED that is lighted when num lock is on. Many keyboards
have the number lock keys indicated on the bottom margin of the normal
keys. The number lock functions as a numeric keypad for data entry when
it is toggled.
