I Need help/advice on a 1000-1200$ Budget Gaming PC

Hello, I am 17, My dad finally decided to let me build a PC, and hes paying for it. The thing is, i know some stuff about computers sure, but I've never built one. I've been doing some research, but i come to no conclusions. I find there is so many variables in building a computer, every part has to fit with the other. And if you choose one part, that changes the list of parts that are possible to choose from after that. Confused and annoyed, i decided to post a thread here to seek advice from experienced people and people familiar with PC's and PC building.

My budget for this computer is going to be 1000-1200$
I already have an operating system i can install, so note that i do not need to purchase one.
I won't need a Disc drive/mouse/keyboard/monitor/speakers. I have all that taken care of. =)

I'm hoping to get the best possible gaming computer possible with the money i have.
If you can help, thank you very much, and if not, thank you for reading this post anyway.
I appreciate it.

Also i was confused about buying 2 x 512MB graphics cards
or a 1GB graphics card and buying another later to have a total of 2.
Not sure which would be a smarter choice for me.

Websites i was using are:

newegg.com
tigerdirect.com

First off we need to know what rez your monitor is so we can match it up with a good GPU and PSU, Also will you keep that monitor or will be updating it soon ect.

The other thing we need to know is what do you do with the PC so we dont get you a part that will not be put to use.

Lets start with you reading this http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advic...

and read up on this http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/274745-31-step-step-g...

with your budget and if this is a gaming PC your looking @ a i5 750 or i7 860 build with a HD 5850 or 5870

- My LCD monitor is 1280 x 1024 resolution
- I do lots of online gaming. I download files very frequently. I do a lot of basic internet browsing as well, myspace, facebook, stuff like that.

This would let you max-out all the games out there and would allow you to upgrade to a 1920x1080 rez latter down the road, If you don't think you will upgrade to a bigger rez latter on replace the HD 5850 for a HD 5770.

Let me know if you have any other questions

This is a single GPU setup So no xfire/sli

If you don't like the case you still have money in the budget to pick a new one
