You say you can detect computers which are not yours -- are you talking about wireless netwoking here ?

Ignoring the printer for the moment -- you seem to be saying that you can't detect the XP machine on the network ?

Before you can add a computer to your network you need to activate sharing on relevant folders on the XP machine and turn off firewalls on both computers.

Then make a note of the XP machine's name and run the Add New Network Place (or whatever it's called on Win 7) routine on the Win 7 machine.

Yes I have detected many other computers. I dont have wireless connections.
Both computers of mine are connected to Fiber modem. But I cant see eachothers of these computers.

I have added some files to share. In both computers. But still they dont appear.

But I havent tried without firewalls. I have win 7 own firewall on which should not block any of lan connections. But XP has F-Secure.

I will try this out.

Ok I have tried all those above. I didnt find anything where I could add XP machine to 7. And I tried without firewall. But without good results.

Any other solutions?

You need to turn off all firewalls.

Win 7 must have a facility for adding network places (just like in XP). Just explore Windows Help and see what it has to say.

Well. Tell me and I try it. Because I cant find anything. Firewalls were disabled and nothing.

Still same problem.

JaBe,

Is your Windows XP machine on a different Workgroup than your Windows 7? You will need to ensure that both are assigned to the same workgroup before you can share. Also, what are your permission settings on the printer connected to the Windows XP machine?

For additional assistance and feedback Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams.

Hi Jessica,

I have both computers (Win 7, and XP) at same workgroup. XP can access to Win 7 but I cant access to XP.

I dont know how to access the permission settings at XP. And remember. Its XP 32 bit home edition.
Thanks for helping.
