No OS trying to boot from cd

I have an old computer that got a virus a few years ago that gave me the message "can not locate operating system." I'm trying to load the os off the cd drive. I've modified the bios to load the cd drive first. I'm getting nowhere. I keep getting to a screen saying move "Windows 7 cd rom to D drive". Any advice?

Because windows 7 comes on a DVD you will need a DVD drive to install the OS.

You can use an external DVD drive, install an internal dvd drive, or if your motherboard supports booting from flash drives you could use a flash drive.
