More about gaming computer dollars
  1. I have been considering upgrading my wifes computer from a 939 socket 3700+ and have similar parts picked out.

Really the only thing I would change is:

Memory because I have a brand loyalty to Corsair and Kingston
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145251

But I would also consider this motherboard, but it is microATX so may not suite your needs.

  2. I've also been looking at cases, granted the pricepoint is there but I personally think that's an ugly case.

I think I would rather have an Antec 300 or a CoolerMaster Centurion 590. Both around the $75 (after shipping) mark.
  3. ^ The pics at newegg dont do justice to that case...
    check the pics here...
    http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/nzxt_gamma/2.htm

For $45 shipped, it is certainly worth it...
  4. Personally I like the antec 200 even better and it's usually even cheaper ($29 AR here at the local Fry's this weekend) - but cases are very subjective.
  5. Thank you all so much for your help. I took your ideas and changed it up a little thought and i want to know what you think. For the proccesor instead of that one is this one ok?
AMD Athlon II X4 630 Propus 2.8GHz . It is 2 more GHz per core

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103704&Tpk=AMD%20Athlon%20II%20X4%20630%20Propus%202.8GHz%204%20x%20512KB%20L2%20Ca

For power supply 500 watt seems a little low so i was looking at this

    Diablotek PHD Series PHD650 650W
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817822004&Tpk=Diablotek%20PHD%20Series%20PHD650%20650W%20ATX12V%20V2.2%20Power

Finally i am not entirely sure about the case. If i keep it, i need suggestions about what fans to get for it, but if i don't keep the 45 dollar case this is the case i was looking at.
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower

So please tell me what you think. Thanks again.
  6. Ps i forgot to ask if this was ok instead of the mother board up there.

This is what I can get for $800.... doesn't have all you need...... missing a good 22" monitor.

I'll try for something a little cheaper and edit this but you get what you pay for.
  10. I like mine better
I have one with everything. I do like the monitor better though
  11. Why do you want a processor with no cache on it ? They might as well put a 939 label on it. Stop trying to cut corners by being CHEAP. Both you power supplies are crap. You didn't leave yourself room for upgrades. You obviously don't know what you're doing but I don't have to live with it, you do. Good luck.
  12. Well i am sorry that i am 13 and don't have money to make an amazing computer. What is wrong with l2 cache?
  13. One, where I come from kids don't have $813 to spend on anything. YOU came here looking for advice. I worked off of YOUR suggestions and put together a darn good computer for the money you said you had to spend. If you think... with all your experience that you made better choices so be it.
  14. And I forgot...... the samung 500g hard drive mentioned above and the operating system puts you over the budget........ about another $150 worth.
  15. @samdsox That PSU that you have linked is not a good quality one...NO Active PFC - NO good PSU...
Go with the one I have listed or the Corsair...The 500W that I had listed will be more reliable than the 650W that you had listed...And $20 for .2GHz increase is not worth it...You can easily set the spped to 2.8GHz yourself by using the softwares that comes with the mobo or in BIOS...

And as for the mobo, Yes even that MSI is good...
  16. okay
  17. Okay i finally put everything together again. Tell me what you think. All i need is a good cheap monitor. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=16964548
  18. ^ That is good...some suggestions...
PSU - The StealthExtreme PSU is fine, but seems to fail after 1 or 2 years...
Go with this...Has modular cabling too...

And the case...Check out this one...
NZXT M59...It seems to be a very good case and they have used this here at TOM's for thier SBM...
