I currently have the 965 BE and the stock cooler. The highest stable OC I can get is 4GHz by changing the core multipliers to x18
and the HT ref clock to 223. I will be getting a Hyper 212 Evo to lower my temps a bit but can anyone suggest their settings to reach higher GHz?

You will need that Hyper 212 and I'm running stable on 4ghz at 1.4 vcore, x20 multiplier and everything else stock... I run at 50-52c on prime95/100% cpu load.

This seems to be a great setting as long as you have proper cooling.

As far as 4.2ghz, it really just depends on if you get a good chip off the production line. Some can be a pain in the ass. Assuming you have a good chip I would only use multiplier and vcore to get 4.2ghz as long as it's stable. Mess with that first, then if not start tweaking the HT/NB.

Quote:
reference clock 300(or whatever)
vcore 1.58v
NB voltage 1.26
cpu/NB voltage 1.375
HT link voltage=1.2526
HT link=Whatever is around 2000-ish
CPU/NB as close to or over 3000-ish as you can get it
keep RAM around 1600-ish
multi=up to you

1.58v is not a good idea at all. You will get high temps and that's exceeding 1.55 which I consider the max you want to go.

Do you want to overclock? or piddlyfart around?

If you set it at 1.58v, what do you think is going to happen when he runs prime95? The voltage will go up another 0.05 or so. Yeah that's over 1.6...

Oh yeah..I wanna run prime for hours and hours. :pfff:  .No really..I ran that chip @ 4050 Mhz with 1.58v for 14 mos straight. If an AMD chip passes 1 round of prime..chances are it won't ever bluescreen,IME ..they're more stable than Intel chips.A better way of checking stability is 2-3 rounds of Hyper-Pi 32M.Denebs are tanks.

No, I didn't say you can't run 1.58v at 4ghz stable. I'm sure you could get it to work but that's not smart as it's harder on the chip. I'm talking about the first screenshot you took almost pushing it to 4.5ghz and you were at 1.7v.... I want to see the temps and stability tests on that.

I got 4.3 GHz stable at 1.55v ...I got it to 4.5 GHz at 1.55v just wasn't stable...schmuckley I guess you found a sucka to buy a cooked chip...lol...BTW...You had to push it to 1.58v just to keep 4 GHz...That is some awfully poor OCing you have there

How about 4.3 GHz at 1.56v..For 18 mos. right now....Check the top of the list schmuck...I am validated I assure you....BTW...you say do better your only running at 4 GHz at 1.58v....Here is the AMD OC Club validation table:

Here's a validation for ya http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2525409

I run 4.375 @ 1.46 on the Deneb i got ...from RMAing a Zosma :(  It clocked so good,I didn't complain.

Oh.. jaywald needs this guide: http://www.overclock.net/t/777378/official-gappos-littl...
Oh..and OCing CPU/NB is VERY important..massive performance gains to be had there.
