I thought i had a boot-block bios problem but since i did NOT
flash the Bios within the last several months, that has been ruled-out.
Gateway Solo 9300 Pentium-||| 500hrz Phoenix BIOS- with Win-2k Pro
symptoms:
when powering_on...the bezel lights flash very briefly, but Nothing is
displayed (or posted) on the LCD screen. No POST at all.... black
screen.
No hardware busy lights turn-on, except for the floppy disk read light
on the floppy, itself (no activity on bezel light), which stays on all
the time.
However, the LS-120 floppy does not read & makes no noises at all.
The CDRW does not spin correctly (sounds strange, not normal sounds) and
only spins slowly for a few sec before turning-off. The bezel busy light
never comes on, either.
The floppy read light cannot be turned-off. An inserted floppy is not
read & it cannot be ejected ( the floppy must be must be removed by
carefully prying-it out, manually). I've tried removing all hardware-
floppy, CDRW, Battery, Ram. it made no difference.
I've reseated the CPU... no change.
Any ideas?
Is the CPU or is the mobo bad?
Is there anyway to tell which of the two is bad?
Is their a hardware reset on Solo 9300, i can not find it, if there is?
