How to deny family members access to my computer when I am travelling

Hello,
I travel a lot and do not like for family members or guests to access my computer when I am not at home. How can I prepare my desk top so nobody can access my word documents or internet addresses?

how about password protecting via BIOS and Windows logon?

be aware that the Administrator account in Windows might not have a password and might allow access via Safe Mode.

make sure to assign a password to all accounts and disable the Guest account.

in the BIOS you should have the option to assign a password for boot up and access to the BIOS. If someone pulls the battery it will reset the password.
