Hello and welcome to the forums :) 
i7 720QM would be a better choice,its faster and there are some programs/apps which benefit from a quad core CPU

The i7 runs faster, better for music, video, gaming, but unlike mi1ez says, the i7 would run hotter under load and use more battery. I'd get the i7, but it is a more power hungry chip.

hotter at load but cooler at idle. during average use, it will last longer. Not during a purely gaming or video editting session, but in general use.

I'm pretty sure that the 45nm mobile i7s use more power at pretty much all times. I know they have less battery life.
