Please suggest a 20" PC monitor - MUST have good blacks and colours

I bought the Samsung SM2032BW and it was horrendous, terrible blacks and colours.

The Samsung T200 was better, but i was still very dissapointed, because again everything looked washed out from colours to blacks.

Can somebody suggest me something that is 20" and under £200, which importantly has deep blacks and good colours.

  1. The best way to find a monitor or a television that looks the way that you want is to go to the store and compare.
  2. Yes, then come home and order it online.
  3. Maybe you need to calibrate the monitor?
  4. Ive calibrated them and no help.

Also shop assistants dont know anything, and the models in shops are limited as well way more expensive than what you get online.
  5. For what you want, you are not prepared to spend enough.
For 200 pounds or do you will get a TN panel: Fast, but poor colours.
What you need is a PVA or even IPS panel, but these are more expensive.
Have a look here or Google 'Monitor panel types'.

  6. I love my VP930B... just a little old but it's a true 8bit panel. Ghosting isn't really present.

Still, you better with a 32 inch good quality TV with 120Hz and 1080p options. The thing is you need to find a good model for black levels too. Don`t expect to find one for 500$... maybe 1100$, for a 32 inches.

Sorry, doesnt exist! Most panels these days are the cheap TN type LCDs, you need to spend a LOT more to get the good quality IPS panels.

coolest lcd out imo. I'm considering getting 3! And I believe its under $250.00 I have the 22" asus lcd and love it. def better than my old samsung, and lg.
  9. Well im not too fussed about gaming, i mean i do game, but i dont play online or anything. Again i just want the colours and black levels to be good because to me washout ruins the image.

I heard its not the greatest monitor though.

Well my family tv is a LE40M86B, which has incredible blacks, i simply cant enjoy my games or films if the colours and blacks are too weak.

One thing i should mention is that my 6 year old 17" TNT is just perfect with almost no calibration, and yet all the Samsungs ive bought were pathetic in comparison.
