Looking at new computer and updated graphics card

I am looking to buy the Emachines ET1331G-03W. I would upgrade the graphics card to a GeForce 9800 GTX+ and upgrade the power supply to a BFG 550 Watt ATX. Will these upgrades work fine all together? Is there anything extra or upgraded I will need for these upgrades to work to their full potential?

  1. For other helpers: http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=ET1331G-03w

    1. There will be a CPU bottleneck at lower resolutions/detail settings, as long as you crank up the graphical settings & play at 1440x900 or higher then you shouldn't notice it

Other than that not much. Maybe you want to look into a 5770?
  2. Consider the 9800GTX+ and the GTS250 the same card buy the one that you get cheaper.
  3. OK, I actually changed my mind and going with the same 550W BFG power supply but am changing the graphics card to a BFG GeForce GTS 250 1GB.
  4. A 5770 would be more powerful than a GTS 250.
  5. And more expensive!
  6. I'm not quite sure I get the idea of buying a brand new machine and then tossing two of the included components on Day 1 as opposed to just building or having a machine built to your specs.
  7. Better than buying a retail PC with the same specs.

Agreed, and over time I plan on continuing to upgrade various parts of the computer until I am completely satisfied with my product.

Thank you for your answers everyone :)
