Hello, I have a

Dell Studio XPS 435MT
Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67Ghz
MEMORY: 8Gb
SYSTEM: Win7 64-bit
I make videos at work with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. When I render the video at 6.7 Mbps HD the program crashes and does not render. The memory that Sony Vegas was using up when it crashed was over a 1,000,000K when I looked at my task manager. How do you know if your cpu is using all of the memory it has? I thought it should be able to handle processes that require a lot of memory usage.

Any help?

While your machine has 8gb of RAM, the software may not need all of that. Usually the task manager is accurate. It can trick you by running multiple process of different names for sub processes, so keep the task manager up before you start vegas, then see which things load. Look for CPU and memory use.

Get the latest drivers for all of your hardware. Do not use windows 7 update to find these drivers, they are most likely older than what is on the manufacturers web site.
