1. Does an OC'd i7 3770 still do any 'turbo boosting' ?
2. My brother an i were discussing the whole turbo boost thing, and though we understand the power consumption benefits, we both agreed that we would rather just have the chip run at 3.9ghz all the time. The question i kept wondering is how the chip recognizes the need to boost from 3.4 to 3.9. Or as CPU-z shows, boost from and idle 1.6ghz to 3.9. This is a pretty big jump that it makes, to me it seems that the processor must hit some sort of wall/processing resistance, (i.e. gets back up) in order for it to know to 'turbo boost'. Is this the case?
I sometimes notice a slight lag, and I watch the core speed go from 1.6 ghz to 3.9, and it makes me wonder, if it was just continuously running at 3.9, would i ever have that 1/2 second of lag?
