CL6 to CL5 can I do it Safely ? Tags: Memory Product Last response: July 30, 2010 5:33 AM in Memory Share kaitheus July 30, 2010 1:26:29 AM Well as the Title suggests I'm wondering if my Kingston Value ram can safely go from CL6 to CL5 I've never done it before so I don't know. Its a 4G duel Channel Kit I got off Newegg awhile ago. Kingston ValueRAM 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KVR800D2N6K2/4G And before you ask, my motherboard I'm using is the MSI 790XT G45. An if I am able to safely do this is there really any benefit from changing the timings ? Worse case really is that the system won't boot to Windows, and you'll just have to change them back. There's not really any difference between CL5 and CL6 you'll see. kaitheus July 30, 2010 5:33:40 AM Ok then if there's really no difference then I'll just wait an upgrade to 1066 DDR2 an use this old stuff in an HTPC.
