CL6 to CL5 can I do it Safely ?

Well as the Title suggests I'm wondering if my Kingston Value ram can safely go from CL6 to CL5 I've never done it before so I don't know. Its a 4G duel Channel Kit I got off Newegg awhile ago.

And before you ask, my motherboard I'm using is the MSI 790XT G45.

An if I am able to safely do this is there really any benefit from changing the timings ?

If it's rated at CL6, running it at CL5 means that you'd most likely have to run it at lower speeds.

Worse case really is that the system won't boot to Windows, and you'll just have to change them back.

There's not really any difference between CL5 and CL6 you'll see.

Ok then if there's really no difference then I'll just wait an upgrade to 1066 DDR2 an use this old stuff in an HTPC.
