Heya folks,

So I recently upgraded most of my rig, but left the old video card (EVGA 256-P2-N553-AX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express) because it wasn't as outdated as the rest of the rig. Figure it's time to upgrade that!

The catch: As I have $40ish in Amazon gift certificates, I would like to shop there, budget of approx $70 (total). If I'm going to spend any more than that, I'll just wait and save up for something good. Candidates I've seen so far:

EVGA 9500GT 1GB

PNY GT220 (Don't know a lot about this one? Might even be worse than the above.)
http://www.amazon.com/PNY-GeForce-PCI-Express-Graphics-...

As well as a whole lot of other 9500GTs of various make and model. Seems to be the only thing they've got in my price range (other than the GT220), but if someone can recommend one above the others, or something I haven't seen yet, let me know.

This is a good place to start: http://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-Graphics-Cards-Add-On...

Thanks in advance, folks!

The card sirheck linked to is the best option. 9500GT is about equal to a 8600GT which was not a big improvement over the 7600GT except in newer shader intensive games. The HD4670 is quite a step up from that performance level the GT220 comes close to it though. Here are some benchmarks http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gt-240,2475...

YES! The ATI 4670 is hands down the best card you can get in this price range. Dont consider a 9400GT.

Amazon doesnt have the best graphic card prices, but if you have gift cards it makes it worth it.

If you decide to alter your budget a little this is my opinion of the best options under $100--in order of price/performance.

9800GT($90ish)
9600GT/GT 240
4670
4560($50ish)

The new nvidia GT 2xx line is replacing the older 9-series line in inventory right now--so sometimes you can get good sales on the 9-series cards. I keep seeing sales for 9800GTs dipping into the low 80s and high 70s on other websites--if you found something like this on amazon is would be a fantastic deal.

The new GT 240 is about as powerful as a 9600GT. The GT 220 is just not a competitive value when priced against the more powerful 4670 or even 4650 cards from ATI.

Yeah, a little more than I wanted to send, but $80 for that card is probably the best deal I'm gonna find. The 9800 GT sounds like a solid choice, but I can't find one for a similar price right now. Thanks TH community - three times you've helped me. You guys are the best.

Bluescreen is right.. other sites offer the 4670 as low as $65ish. You should be able to get it for under $75.

If you have to go up to $80 to stay on Amazon the BFG card above is a good choice. BFG is a good brand.
