I'm currently using a SATA/IDE to USB connector with my SATA based internal HD from my old computer. I want to be able to view and access any file from it so that I can quickly transfer it over to my new HD in my new computer. However, every time I try to view or transfer a file over, I'm receiving an 'access is denied' message. I've tried changing the security settings of the HD to allow me full access, but I receive "An error occurred when setting security information to:" messages when I try it and it doesn't seem to work. Some of the files that receive that error are 'Documents and Settings' and 'Program Files', two folders I especially need to look into.
For the record, the old HD was running on XP. I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate for the first time on my new setup, so I'm still trying to familiarize myself with everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
