There's something wrong with the connection between your hard drive and motherboard. I'd suggest opening your computer up (if warranty no longer applies), unplugging then replugging the HDD.

reli? i have that checked by a technician, there is sound on the hard disk...he said HD is broken & needed to be replaced..so i bought a new one...& replaced it..i now have the UPS because i suspect frequent power failures cause the damage...thanks to the help...i really appreciate it..more power to u!
