Why would a usb drive create duplicate files and lock them???

I'm using a mac os x 10.6 and why would a kingston usb drive create duplicate files and lock them??? and when i try to right click to un lock its not giving me that option any more

Because it's messed up! Copy all the files you want to save and the reformat the drive with Disc Utility. Mac OS X (Journaled) format is fine. Once it's clean, drop the files back on. I find that this usually fixes finicky drives.
