Best 250-300GB External Hard Drive?

I'm looking for an External Hard Drive that I can use to transfer files from my old computer onto my new one. I was looking at Newegg, Bestbuy, and Microcenter or anywhere that has something of decent value. I do not wish to spend anymore than $70-$80 on this external hard drive. Are their any suggestions on what brand I should buy or stay away from and anything I need to know about these devices before I purchase one?
