1280x1024 on a 23" monitor?

So I'm trying to run a game in 1280x1024 mode on my 23inch (native resolution of 1920x1080).

With my GTX260, it was able to automatically run that resolution without stretching - it was the native resolution, with black bars covering the excess monitor space.

However, my 4870 runs 1280x1024 stretched across the entire screen. Does anyone know of an option to change this? I've tinkered around with the ingame controls to no avail, including running it in windowed mode (but the background is distracting)

There should be a "maintain aspect ratio" option in Catalyst somewhere. Often, there's an option to maintain the aspect ratio in your monitor's settings as well, which is the way I would go if possible.

Maintaining the aspect ratio will still stretch the image slightly(1024->1080)

True. There should also be an option to not scale the image. You'll probably have to set it in the monitor settings.

You hace to go into CCC and select the image size you want - under desktop properties.

Then go into Desktop and Displays, click configure and in the middle the scaling option will appear in the middle.

Scale image to panel stretches it and Centered Timings uses the exact same pixels and you will have black around the image.

Use have to select the display size first then select the scaling option.
