Depends on what that device was. I've seen that most often for modems. If you have an old modem, or a motherboard built before Win7 that has an onboard modem, you may be SOL. I had to abandon all my modem cards when Win7 came along.

Can you get more information, possibly through the Device Manager, on what that component is? Are you installing Win7 to replace an older OS?
