I want to hook up dual monitors to my Nvidia FX4400. I don't want both monitors to show the same thing; instead, I want to combine the two together into one large horizontal display.

The specs I found online:

http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id...

indicate that the FX4400's max resolution for dual link DVI is 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz.

What I can't figure out:

is that 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz for each monitor on a separate DVI port, or is it the spec for both displays hooked up together?

If the spec is for each monitor, then I could buy two separate 30 inch monitors and combine them for a total resolution of 5,120 x 1600. That's more than I need or want, but I could do it.

If the spec is for both monitors together, though, then I think I'd be limited to two 19 inchers, with max resolutions of 1280 x 1024 each. Hooked up together, that would come to 2,560 x 1024 ... and if the spec is for both monitors together, that would max out the card for horizontal resolution.

I hope someone knows the answer to this one.
